Origami Class Types

What Can I expect from an Origami class?

I can offer a variety of types of origami classes for a variety of purposes, however be aware that origami is not really a performance art – the fun is not in watching someone fold, it is in having a go yourself.

I can offer both online, and in person classes. I am based in Livingston however, so any in-person classes beyond Central Scotland would only be by special arrangement, and all in-person classes will involve some travel expenses.

Sadly I do not have access to suitable premises that would allow people to come to me, however if you don’t have a suitable space and would like an in person class then please let me know and I will see if there is anywhere local to you that is suitable.

For all in-person classes I will bring along a small exhibition of some of the origami models I have folded over the years to allow people to see the range of what is possible.

The most common type of class would typically fold one or more basic models and run for a fixed period for a pre-defined audience.

I can also offer "Drop-in" classes where I would be sitting at a table and would teach simple models to whoever shows up wishing to learn at any point in a defined period.

Within these limits however there is still a great deal of room for customisation for example I have taught the following types of "class"

  • Themed classes where the emphasis is on a certain model or type of model – boxes, butterflies, animals, Easter, Halloween, Christmas etc.
  • Birthday Parties
  • Sessions for couples celebrating their paper (1st) wedding anniversary.
  • Origami as a means to improve corporate communications by highlighting jargon and assumptions.
  • Teach the teachers – i.e. teaching people how to teach origami and or how to read and interpret origami diagrams.
  • Mindfullness or de-stressing sessions in private, public or corporate environments
