Getting started in origami doesn’t require any great investment in terms of buying equipment or even paper – many people start folding using nothing more sophisticated than a square telephone note pad.
What is a little more challenging is to learn solely from diagrams, whether from books, or those that can be found online, or even by watching YouTube videos.
By far the best way to start is to learn from someone else, either 1:1 or in small groups. In that way you will be able to do some initial folding and will be able to get some guidance on how best to proceed to learn more.
Learning in small groups, whether it be work colleagues, friends, or random strangers is always a fun experience – it is amazing how many people in their first ever class will at some point end up helping the person sitting next to them – complete novice to teacher in one lesson! 😉
